NEET 2026 Physics, question 33

Question 33 of the NEET 2026 paper (re-exam) is a Physics question from Electric Charges and Fields. Its idea, Off-Center Charge in Cavity, was asked only this once in NEET 2017–2026. The NTA final answer key gives option 2.

Q33 · Physics

A point charge Q is placed inside a cavity within a solid isolated conducting sphere. Consider points A, B and C as shown in the figure, where the magnitudes of the electric fields are EAE_A, EBE_B and ECE_C, respectively. The points B and C are at the same distance from the center of the solid sphere. The correct option is :

The figure, described in words

Conducting sphere with an off-centre cavity containing Q; A is inside the cavity near Q; C and B are outside the sphere on opposite sides at equal distance from its centre.

  1. 1EA=0E_A=0, EB=ECE_B=E_C
  2. 2EA≠0E_A\neq0, EB=ECE_B=E_COfficial answer
  3. 3EA=0E_A=0, EB>ECE_B>E_C
  4. 4EA≠0E_A\neq0, EB<ECE_B<E_C
