Anatomy of Flowering Plants
10 lessons 75 min 2 simulations
This chapter moves inside the plant body. It groups plant tissues into three systems by position and job, then walks through transverse sections of dicot and monocot roots and stems and vertical sections of dicot and monocot leaves, showing how the same tissues are arranged differently in each organ and group.
What the exam asks
NEET gives a set of anatomical features and asks you to name the organ: root, stem or leaf, dicot or monocot. It also tests the vascular bundle vocabulary (radial, conjoint, open, closed, endarch), stomatal structure, casparian strips, the starch sheath, and bulliform cells. Marks slip on the layer order of sections, on which structure is sclerenchymatous or collenchymatous, and on where stomata sit in the two kinds of leaf.
