Hormones act through receptors located in different places. Evaluate the Assertion and Reason.

  • Assertion (A): Steroid hormones such as cortisol usually act through intracellular receptors and regulate gene expression.
  • Reason (R): Steroid hormones are lipid-soluble, so they can cross the cell membrane to reach the intracellular receptors, whereas protein hormones bind to membrane-bound receptors.
