NEET 2026 Physics, question 18

Question 18 of the NEET 2026 paper (re-exam) is a Physics question from Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter. Its idea, Threshold Wavelength Condition, was asked twice, in 2020 and 2026, across NEET 2017–2026. The NTA final answer key gives option 1.

Q18 · Physics

A ray of light with wavelength λ\lambda is incident on three different photo-electric cells namely 1, 2 and 3. The threshold wavelength of these photo-electric cells are λ1\lambda_1, λ2\lambda_2, and λ3\lambda_3, respectively and the magnitude of stopping potentials of these cells are V1V_1, V2V_2 and V3V_3, respectively. The relation between λ\lambda and threshold wavelengths are λ1<λ\lambda_1<\lambda, λ2>λ\lambda_2>\lambda and λ3>>λ\lambda_3>>\lambda. The correct option is :

  1. 1V1=0V_1=0, V2<V3V_2<V_3Official answer
  2. 2V1=0V_1=0, V2>V3V_2>V_3
  3. 3V1>V2V_1>V_2, V3=0V_3=0
  4. 4V1<V2V_1<V_2, V3=0V_3=0
