NEET 2025 Physics, question 19

Question 19 of the NEET 2025 paper (code 45) is a Physics question from Thermal Properties of Matter. Its idea, Conduction through Composite Rods, was asked twice, in 2017 and 2025, across NEET 2017–2026. The NTA final answer key gives option 3.

Q19 · Physics

Three identical heat conducting rods are connected in series as shown in the figure. The rods on the sides have thermal conductivity 2K2K while that in the middle has thermal conductivity KK. The left end of the combination is maintained at temperature 3T3T and the right end at TT. The rods are thermally insulated from outside. In steady state, temperature at the left junction is T1T_1 and that at the right junction is T2T_2. The ratio T1/T2T_1/T_2 is

The figure, described in words

Three equal rods in series 2K | K | 2K between walls at 3T (left) and T (right); junction temperatures T1 and T2.
