NEET 2018 Physics, question 27

Question 27 of the NEET 2018 paper (code AA) is a Physics question from Magnetism and Matter. Its idea, Dia-, Para- and Ferromagnetism, was asked twice, in 2018 and 2024, across NEET 2017–2026. The CBSE official answer key gives option 4.

Q27 · Physics

A thin diamagnetic rod is placed vertically between the poles of an electromagnet. When the current in the electromagnet is switched on, then the diamagnetic rod is pushed up, out of the horizontal magnetic field. Hence the rod gains gravitational potential energy. The work required to do this comes from

  1. 1the lattice structure of the material of the rod
  2. 2the magnetic field
  3. 3the current source
  4. 4the induced electric field due to the changing magnetic fieldOfficial answer

Official answer: option 4 · CBSE official answer key
