Two aqueous solutions, 0.1 M NaCl and 0.1 M glucose, are compared at the same temperature. Judge the Assertion (A) and the Reason (R) below.

  • Assertion (A): The NaCl solution has a higher osmotic pressure than the glucose solution.
  • Reason (R): Each formula unit of NaCl dissociates into two ions, so the NaCl solution holds nearly twice as many solute particles.
