JEE Main 8 April 2026, Shift 2, Chemistry Q66

Question 66 of 75 in this shift, Chemistry question 16 of 25, Section A.

Given below are two statements : Statement I : Due to increase in van der Waals forces, the order of boiling points is CH3CH2CH2I>CH3CH2I>CH3I\mathrm{CH_3CH_2CH_2I > CH_3CH_2I > CH_3I}. Statement II : As [figure: 1,4-dichlorobenzene (para)] is more symmetric, its melting point is higher than [figure: 1,2-dichlorobenzene (ortho)], however its boiling point is lower than [figure: 1,2-dichlorobenzene (ortho)] In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below :

The figure, in words

Statement II shows structures: 1,4-dichlorobenzene (Cl at top and bottom of the ring) versus 1,2-dichlorobenzene (two adjacent Cl).
