JEE Main 2 April 2025, Shift 2, Chemistry Q75

Question 75 of 75 in this shift, Chemistry question 25 of 25, Section B.

Consider the above sequence of reactions. 151 g of 2-bromopentane is made to react. Yield of major product P is 80% whereas Q is 100%. Mass of product Q obtained is __________ g. (Given molar mass in g mol−1\mathrm{g\ mol^{-1}} H : 1, C : 12, O : 16, Br : 80)

The figure, in words

Reaction scheme: 2-bromopentane (skeletal zig-zag chain with Br on carbon 2) reacts with alcoholic KOH to give P (major product), which then reacts with Br2 to give Q.
