JEE Main 31 January 2024, Shift 1, Physics Q34

Question 34 of 90 in this shift, Physics question 4 of 30, Section A.

In the given arrangement of a doubly inclined plane two blocks of masses MM and mm are placed. The blocks are connected by a light string passing over an ideal pulley as shown. The coefficient of friction between the surface of the plane and the blocks is 0.25. The value of mm, for which M=10M=10 kg will move down with an acceleration of 2 m/s2^2, is: (take g=10g=10 m/s2^2 and tan⁡37∘=3/4\tan37^\circ=3/4)

The figure, in words

Doubly inclined plane with a pulley at the top apex: block M on the left incline (angle 53 deg at left base, arrow showing M sliding down), block m on the right incline (angle 37 deg at right base); blocks connected by a light string over the pulley.
