JEE Main 26 June 2022, Shift 1, Physics Q35

Question 35 of 90 in this shift, Physics question 5 of 30, Section A.

A thin circular ring of mass M and radius R is rotating with a constant angular velocity 2 rads−1\mathrm{rads^{-1}} in a horizontal plane about an axis vertical to its plane and passing through the center of the ring. If two objects each of mass m be attached gently to the opposite ends of a diameter of ring, the ring will then rotate with an angular velocity (in rads−1\mathrm{rads^{-1}}).
  1. (1)M(M+m)\frac{M}{(M+m)}
  2. (2)(M+2m)2M\frac{(M+2m)}{2M}
  3. (3)2M(M+2m)\frac{2M}{(M+2m)}Official answer
  4. (4)2(M+2m)M\frac{2(M+2m)}{M}
